(En Espanol: http://salem-mennonite-church.com/cuaresma-2021-ayunar-leer-orar-actuar/) For thousands of years Christians have prepared for Resurrection Sunday through a 40 day Lenten journey.  The Lent season is filled with spiritual practices to prepare the believer for the celebration of the Resurrection.  This year the combined church group (Crown Hill, Martins, Wooster, Salem, Oak Grove & Orrville) is joining together with a 40 day “I Was a Stranger” Bible reading plan that was produced by the Evangelical Immigration Table.   While immigration is certainly a political, social and economic issue, it’s also a biblical issue. For Christians whose highest authority is God’s word, our views should […]

“Do not be quick to assume your enemy is a savage just because he is your enemy. Perhaps he is your enemy because he thinks you are a savage. Or perhaps he is afraid of you because he feels that you are afraid of him. And perhaps if he believed you were capable of loving him he would no longer be your enemy. Do not be quick to assume that your enemy is an enemy of God just because he is your enemy. Perhaps he is your enemy precisely because he can find nothing in you that gives glory to […]

We praise the Lord that we had nice enough weather to join together for outdoor services in June and we continue to be thankful for his guidance through these unprecedented times. The leadership team met recently and decided to continue to hold outdoor Sunday morning services as weather permits and to start the services an hour earlier at 9:30 instead of 10:30am to try to beat the heat. These decisions were made to keep us as comfortable as possible, and keep everyone safe! Or if you feel more comfortable staying at home we will continue to live stream the service […]

As the Leadership Team of Ohio Conference of Mennonite Church USA, we affirm the recent statement from Mennonite Church USA on racial injustice and Executive Director Glen Guyton’s open letter to thedenomination. We lament the death of George Floyd, the latest death of an African-American person at the hands of a white police officer. We grieve the violence that has erupted in many cities across the country, and yet we acknowledge that much is the result of anger and frustration due to systemic injustice and racism against people of color that has been building for a long period of time, in fact […]

As we welcome in the new year, we welcome a new season. What is this season for you? Pastor David Hargrave presented us with this message to begin the year as we transition from the excitement and busyness of the holidays, taking down decorations, and taking a look at where we’re heading next. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says: there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. Todo tiene su momento oportuno; hay un tiempo para todo lo que se hace bajo el cielo. We, as a church, welcomed Pastor David this past year and we […]
